The project aims to define national competence requirements for health science and social service teachers, develops and integrates a model for continuous education, and will pilot a new study module in digitalization.

About us

The national project is coordinated by the Research Unit of Nursing Science and Health Management at the University of Oulu in collaboration with the University of Eastern Finland, the University of Tampere, the University of Turku, the University of Jyväskylä, Åbo Academi University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The project includes four stages I – IV.

I. STAGE

NATIONAL HEALTH SCIENCE AND SOCIAL SERVICE TEACHERS’ COMPETENCE

Definition of teachers’ competence by two systematic reviews, interviewing of teachers, development of an instrument and measuring of teachers’ competence in Finland, development of a model and integrating of the model into the national curriculum.

II. STAGE

CONTINUOUS EDUCATION MODEL

Developing of a continuous education model, interviewing of novice and experienced teachers, development of an instrument and identifying of teachers’ continuous education needs, testing of the model for continuous education.

III. STAGE

DIGITAL LEARNING MODULE

Description of a digital learning intervention for teachers, development of a digital learning module with learning materials, testing of the effect of the module upon teachers’ competence.

IV. STAGE

DIGITAL HEALTH SCIENCE AND SOCIAL SERVICE TEACHERS’ NETWORK

Development of a digital environment for health science and social service teachers’ national network. The digital study materials and teaching technology can be utilized in both degree programme education and continuous education as well as in education export.
